What to know
The Albany Picture House, a programme created by the Albany Theatre, seeks to provide the local community with an eclectic, exciting range of films and cinema events. We are constantly updating our programme with kids films, blockbusters and World Cinema. Situated in a striking Art Deco building close to the city centre, the Albany Picture House is in need of a volunteer Committee to manage the programme.
What is the Committee?
All members of the Picture House Committee must have a patient, good-humoured, positive and supportive approach to working with other volunteers and the staff of the Albany Theatre. They must have the ability to manage their workload effectively, without close supervision. Most importantly, though, they must have a good knowledge of and passion for film and cinema!
The most important of the Committee’s tasks is to increase audience numbers – the Picture House cannot run without an audience. The feedback we’ve received so far has been overwhelmingly positive, so it’s just a case of finding more!
What will the Committee have to do?
While the Picture House Committee will be collaborative, there are a number of key roles that need to be filled. We have carefully created these to cover all aspects of running the Picture House.
- Evaluation Lead
- Event Lead
- Marketing Lead
- Membership Lead
- Revenue Lead
How much time do the Committee have to commit to?
We expect that any member of the committee will have to spend a minimum of an hour a week working on developing the Picture House. Obviously, there is always more than can be done, so the more you put into it, the more you’ll get out. What we’re really looking for is commitment. If you can only commit to an hour a week, then that’s fine. All Committee Members will be expected to attend a committee meeting once a month, arranged a month in advance.
