The Firebird Singers are a mixed group of over 60 people based in Meriden and ranging in age from 16 to 94, with soprano, alto, tenor and bass voices. They perform both in Meriden and Coventry, in venues such as; the Albany Theatre, Manor Hotel, Holy Trinity Church, Blue Coat School and BBC local radio.
Combining singing for pleasure with raising money for charity, the choir have raised over £24,500 to date for various local charities. Formed in 2010, the choir is constantly growing in size and popularity, and is becoming well known within the Coventry area.
Andrew Smith, their young and very talented Musical Director, has been with the choir since October 2011. He has expanded their repertoire and raised standards to an impressive level, refusing to settle for “just good enough” and pushing singers to ever higher achievements.
Their next concert is Firebirds’ Floorfillers, a mix of all those 70’s, 80’s and 90’s disco hits that you know so well, including the Bee Gees, Earth Wind and Fire, the Jackson 5 and Gloria Gaynor to name just a few. And, there might be a few more recent hits in there as well!
This concert will feature outstanding soloists, all drawn from the choir, and many disco classics that will bring out your inner Disco Diva and get you dancing in the aisles!
