Thursday 24 September & Friday 25 September 2020 | 7:30pm
Moliere’s most famous comedy adapted using characteristic physical flair and, at moments of particular explosion; excerpts of the original French Verse.
Alceste hates people. Except - when he cannot help but really, really love them.
Enchanted by the shallow and bitchy Celimene, this grumpy hermit of a man must overcome his hatred of vanity & hypocrisy in order to win fair maiden. But, riding roughshod over the feelings of many an airy aristocrat to gain her affection, can he persuade his beloved to retreat away from the world, or will the many lawsuits at his back see him plunged into incarceration?
"The Misanthrope" has been lauded as one of Moliere's finest works. We utilise original character & movement roots from Commedia Dell'Arte as well as French language to delve deep into these larger-than-life characters and expose the beating human heart within.
This will be a wild, raucous return for Theatrical Niche.
