Our Artistic Director and Chief Executive responds to the government’s announcement of a £1.57bn arts support package
The £1.57bn recovery package for the arts is fantastic news. We are delighted that the vital role that theatres and cultural institutions weave into the fabric of our lives is being recognised. The arts not only play a vital role in bringing communities together and promoting well-being but they also make a significant contribution to driving local economies in every town and city across the country.
We look forward to further details as to how the funds will be distributed and we hope that the theatre industry in all its different manifestations will be safeguarded.
We are ready to respond with creativity and enthusiasm as soon as we know it is safe to re-open and look forward to welcoming audiences back to the theatre. Rest assured, as soon as we have any news about The Albany we will let you know. We are ready to play our part in the re-emergence of live theatre.
