Coventry’s internationally acclaimed guitarist, Kevin Dempsey is back to host another of his popular workshops for aspiring guitarists seeking ways to turn their chords and strums into something special.

Regarded as one of the finest acoustic guitarists on the global folk and acoustic scene – and an experienced tutor – Kevin welcomes guitarists at all stages and of all ages, to join him and improve on their abilities. If you took part in his previous sessions, come and pick up some more ideas. Or it this is your first time, prepare to be amazed at just how well you can play with a little helpful and friendly guidance. Just bring your guitar and join the fun.

Our Folk Freshers Workshops run monthly on Saturday mornings. All age groups are welcome and we’re very keen to see young people taking this opportunity to pursue their journeys as musicians and performers. Each month, we feature different instruments and aspects of the folk arts. The 2-hour event starts at 11am.

The sessions take place in recently opened Clive Benfield Studios in the Albany Theatre building. Admission is £8 per person (£5 unwaged) – book via the Box Office or just turn up on the day and pay at the desk.
