Summer may be on it’s way out but there’s still plenty of fun to be had at The Albany! After a bit of a break for the holidays we’re back with our usual slate of incredible shows, with everything from magic to line dancing, we’ve got something for everyone this September.
SOMETHING DIFFERENT…
If you’re looking to experience something truly out of the ordinary we’ve got plenty of unique experiences coming to the stage. Starting off with the Da Vinci show, learn everything you’ve ever wanted about the iconic renaissance painter in this off Broadway show coming on it’s very first UK tour!
Then someone else is visiting us from across the pond, join travel writer Simon Parker as he recounts his travels across the USA, cycling a whopping 4,327 mile journey across 11 states, all in his attempt to understand the American psyche in the run up to the 2024 election.
Now you see me… now you don’t, fantastic West End magic is coming to Coventry, whether it’s mind reading, ventriloquism or crazy stunts, prepare to be amazed and mind boggled!
Then lastly there’s Locks, Keys and Coasts, a captivating theatrical experience blending dance, music and poetry to explore heritage and oppression in a thought-provoking story.
BUCKETS OF LAUGHS…
For comedy fans we’ve got all sorts to laugh at! The hilarious one man show Frankenstein (on a budget…) starts us of with a comedy musical horror spectacular complete with dodgy backdrops, dodgier accents, and a whole lot of hats.
Next, legendary comedian Su Pollard is coming to Coventry in her brand new show, hear hilarious stories from her time in showbiz, celebrate all the iconic characters she’s played and sing along to iconic songs!
Cult classic Rita, Sue and Bob Too is coming up next with this witty 1980’s set play that was later adapted into the popular film! Rita and Sue are two high school students babysitting for married couple Bob and Michelle, but Bob may have his eye on the two teens…
For those who want to get moving, not one but TWO Dolly Parton’s are coming to the Albany (not the real one we’re afraid…) to walk the residents of Coventry through some line dancing routines! Dressing up highly encouraged.
Finally the Comedy Store is back so whether you’re a regular or a new convert, come and see the rising stars of stand up in the comedy club that gave rise to hosts of legendary comedians.
THE BEST OF MUSIC…
We’ve got plenty of music of all types coming up, starting with Liverpool-born Beatles tribute ‘The Mersey Beatles‘ ready to sing all the greatest hits! Then witness performers from the West End and Broadway singing classical musical numbers from Mamma Mia, to Les Miserables, to Frozen, they’re bringing the West End to Coventry in Opera Boys!
Then celebrate the best of the Big Band era in the Glenn Miller show, brought to life by the incredible Moonlight Serenade Orchestra. Listen to all the hits of 50’s and 60’s! Finally the King himself is coming to The Albany in the World Famous Elvis Show with Elvis played by the world renowned Chris Connor. Faithfully recreating two concerts, this is the ultimate Elvis experience.
NEWS AT THE ALBANY…
We’re well under way with casting for our community panto Sleeping Beauty, and now we just need our Chorus! Whether you’re an old hat or want to try something new come on down on the 15th September to try out.
The Matinee Club had it’s first performance and it was a resounding success! With great feedback and reviews, we’re excited to invite members back for our next performance next month. If you haven’t joined yet there’s still plenty of time to get involved with membership free till next year!
